Bathroom Deep Cleaning: Professional Standards

A bathroom deep clean goes far beyond a quick wipe-down. It's a top-to-bottom process that tackles soap scum, mineral deposits, and germs in every nook and cranny. Following a systematic, professional-style approach will leave your bathroom not just looking clean, but feeling truly sanitized and sparkling.

📋 The Professional's Checklist

Work from top to bottom, and save the floors for last.

1
Declutter and Prep: Remove all items from countertops, the tub edge, and the floor. Take down the shower curtain and liner (wash them according to their labels).
2
Dust and Cobweb: Start high. Dust light fixtures, the exhaust fan cover, and all corners of the ceiling.
3
Spray and Soak: Spray your heavy-duty cleaners on the toughest areas first—the shower/tub, and inside the toilet bowl. Let these cleaners sit and do their work (dwell time) while you clean other areas.
4
Clean Shower and Tub: Now that the cleaner has had time to work, scrub the shower walls, tub, and glass doors to remove soap scum and mildew. Use a grout brush on the grout lines. Rinse thoroughly.
5
Clean Vanity, Sink, and Mirror: Wipe down cabinets. Clean the mirror with glass cleaner. Scrub the sink and faucet, paying attention to the base where gunk builds up.
6
Sanitize the Toilet: Scrub the inside of the bowl. Disinfect the entire exterior of the toilet from top to bottom, including the handle, the seat (both sides), and the entire base.
7
Finish with the Floor: Sweep or vacuum the floor, paying close attention to corners and around the toilet base. Mop the floor thoroughly with a disinfectant cleaner.

✨ Pro Tips for Tough Spots

showerhead
Clogged Showerhead: Fill a plastic bag with white vinegar and secure it over the showerhead with a rubber band. Let it soak for a few hours to dissolve mineral deposits.
soap scum
Tough Soap Scum: A paste of baking soda and vinegar can often cut through stubborn soap scum on glass doors.
fan
Exhaust Fan Cover: Take down the plastic cover and wash it in warm, soapy water to remove the layer of dust.
