This is a simple project that requires only a few basic tools.

Screwdriver (Phillips or flathead, depending on your hardware).

A drill (if you need to drill new holes).

🔧 The Installation Process

The key to a professional look is consistency. All your knobs and pulls should be in the exact same position on every door and drawer.

Remove Old Hardware: Simply unscrew the old knobs or pulls from the inside of the cabinet door or drawer.

Use a Template (Jig): A cabinet hardware jig is an adjustable guide that you set once and then use on every door and drawer. This ensures every hole you drill is perfectly placed.

Drill New Holes (If Needed): If you're switching from knobs to pulls, or if your new hardware has different spacing, you'll need to drill new holes. Drill from the front of the cabinet to the back to prevent the wood from splintering.

Install New Hardware: Insert the new screws from the back of the door or drawer and tighten the new knob or pull on the front.

Pro Tip: For cabinet doors, knobs are typically placed on the stile (the vertical frame piece) opposite the hinges. For drawers, pulls are usually centered horizontally.
